Because of my fast NAS I realized that I can't get the full performance out of my workstation because my hardisk is to slow. So I decided to buy a new cheap 1TB drive for it. I searched a bit around and the Samsung F3 seems to be a good candidate. So I benched a bit around, to check if it's that fast I heard about.
- Phenom 9750 Quad Core
- 5GB of Ram
- Asrock 780G based Mainboard
- Windows XP64/Ubuntu 9.04 64
- Samsung 1310F3
Because I have also Windows running on my machine and I don't know about a tool like hdtune on linux, I first checked the drive with that. Here is the screenshot

Using Linux, I formated the drive with xfs and run the bonnie++ benchmark
bonnie++ -q >results.csv
cat results.csv | bon_csv2html >results.html
You can find the generated html results in the attachment.
Overall quite impressive for such a cheap drive.
